- explain what information you should look to collect in order to carry out a learning needs analysis on an individual and a group (e.g. performance requirements, team objectives etc).

Activity and Written Summary (500 words)
Identify an individual in your organisation (or one you are familiar with) and carry out the following activity.
- Using at least three different methods, collect information from the individual and/or their organisation relating to their learning needs. Evidence of conducting a learning needs analysis using three data collection methods should be included as an appendix.
- From the
information gathered, produce a written summary in which you:
- identify and prioritise, with justification, the three main learning needs.
- explain at least three factors which may affect the choice of learning solution.
Development plan (AC 3.5 DEP)
Reflect on any learning from your assessment and wider study of the unit (including attendance at the workshop), and complete the Key Learning Summary of your Development Plan. You should also identify any learning points for the future and update the Development Plan (using a different font colour or another visual indicator) accordingly. You should submit your Key Learning Summary and Development Plan as a separate document on Moodle with your submitted assessment by the assessment deadline date.

AC 1.1: Key Reasons why Learning needs may arise for Individuals and Groups
In the contemporary business environment, the learning needs reasons can be obvious. For instance, the new IT or new equipment could demand the existence of a specific form of training (CIPD, 2018). This exist while the individual skills are being refreshed as a consequence of the changes in roles. Others include the levels of skills, attitudes and knowledge against the requirements for meeting future needs. From an individual perspective, the reasons why learning needs may arise for individuals include;
- Achieving Quality- in a work environment, there could be employees with behavioural, emotional, social, or other challenges limiting their learning abilities. Hence, when the human resource department identifies their weaknesses and adopt measures for overcoming them, the employees acquire the learned skills with minimal barriers.
- Creating Interest- the learning needs may arise to create interest in boosting the employee’s morale and actively encouraging them. In some instances, the learner would fail in gaining immensely from high-level instruction.
For the group, the key reasons why learning needs that could arise include;
- Organising the Group in a team- the best approach for an involved stakeholder in the learning and development of a group in an organisation is identifying the characteristics of all members in a group. The group members are organized based on their roles in the organisation, their capacity of understanding of their roles and accessibility to the training and development opportunities.
- Developing talents: In a group, all the members must be passed through a process of skills understanding and development. The facilitator of the learning and development identifies skill or talent. In such a phenomenon, the learning needs are identified and provision of essential support for their development to assist the group members to discover and eventually grow them.
