From my experience working in Bank Albilad as a manager of CSR, the practice is simply an undertaking intended to ensure that an organisation offer back to the society/community without any expectation of gaining from that in terms of getting more markets or even profitability.
1.1.Do you think That CSR is a voluntary process? Or should CSR be regulated by the government?
Not really. A CSR is something I refer as a ‘psychological contract’ sort of undertaking. This means that for an organisation, enrolling in CSR is something that ought to come automatically. It should be a trend for all organisation in the modern business environment. Also, I view that CSR can be seen as the “moral obligation” or “voluntary initiative” of a company to integrate social, humanitarian and environmental aspects within its activity; however, reporting the results of such involvement is compulsory for enhancing a company’s competitiveness and sustainable development.
1.2.What are the most important aspects that CSR should consider? Shall companies go for social
responsibilities, economic responsibilities, environmental responsibilities, or voluntarism
responsibilities? What are the important aspect out of those?
All the identified areas of CSR are very instrumental and critical. Companies should go for the social responsibilities, economic responsibilities, environmental responsibilities and voluntarism responsibilities. Nevertheless, in my operations in Bank Albilad, I consider the social responsibilities as the most critical and important. Particularly, after the emergent of COVID-19 pandemic, the need for embracing social practices and employees wellbeing emerged which prompted the bank to initiate such approaches. These have been instrumental in maintaining employees in their work environment for a long-term basis.
