Adopting the definition of CIPD (2024e), workplace wellbeing relate to need for achieving health, wellbeing and being happy in part of executing their functions as stipulated in job description. Importance of Wellbeing in Workplace There is a necessity for prioritising on employees interest since they are instrumental for an efficient operation, engaged and successfully executing their functions. An emphasis and encouragement of employees wellbeing lead to increase in skills and energetic staff, reduced sick-off days and less turnover. For example, an appropriately established organisation culture, reasonableness and existence of mental health development enhance satisfaction in executing their function hence performance increased. Impact for failure to focus on Wellbeing A neglect on staff wellbeing could contribute to physical and mental health challenges including being stressed, burnout issues and anxious in their functions. The outcome of this is increased absenteeism, present and turnover scope (CIPD, 2023a). Failure of offering the employees with relevant support, the outcome of reduced interest, lower productivity and detriment of their practice to morale and efficient organisation practice reduced. For instance, with staff encountering issues in executing their functions, unfriendly workplace environment lead to reduction on performance and immense costs incurred in healthcare. Impact of “Good Work” on Wellbeing Fairness in rewards and recognition– By enhancing equality in rewards and recognition enhance employees relations and positively impact their state of mind (CIPD, 2024e). In line with CIPD Good Work Index, employees being of high-level value enhance performance hence reducing burnouts. Offering appropriate rewards and recognition enhance how satisfied and stable in being able to execute their functions. Work-Life Balance– In an organisation which prioritise on implementing hybrid working arrangement improve overall health of the employees. According to CIPD (2024), their stress are lowered with employees continuing with their individual/personal roles. For instance, allowing the staff in working from home in a period of 2 days weekly assists in being satisfied and reducing how fatigued they are to access workplaces. |
