Solution
AI in my Organisation Workplace
In the fashion industry where our organisation operates (REDTAG), Artificial Intelligence (AI) embrace is increasing. According to CIPD (2024b), this is informed by customer demands increase and evolving operations. The forms of AI used include;
Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI)
This type of AI has the capability of mimicking real human activities to be real (Baidoo-Anu & Ansah, 2023). For instance, it can create content, generate ideas in a conversational approach and video. In REDTAG for example, the embrace of Generative AI can be effective in development of new designs for fashion. The recruitment process would be informed by the content generated, profiles, recruitment key words and elaborate job functions.
Also, Generative AI is used successfully to create a job function where collaboration amongst the teams is enhanced as they all understand the scope of their use. In Mannuru et al. (2023) report on AI embrace, it highlights that Generative AI contribute to 90% increased efficiency in talents development, human resources management and induction.
Narrow Artificial Intelligence (AI)
As the name suggests, this is a more specific form of AI targeting a very specific activity which need to be executed (Babu & Banana, 2024). The scope of its use is to design a specific job role or developing close-link functions. As opposed to Generative AI, this type of AI is specific and constrained in regard to the scope of its embrace.
The strengths of embrace of this AI in REDTAG case is assisting voice assistants to promote responses, call and answering through posing questions. According to Schlegel and Uenal (2021), it leads to 90% increased efficiencies in small tasks handling. Also, the scope of collaboration is enhanced for the tasks which would have been implemented in a manual way.
Use in Organisations
Generally, Generative AI has a positive impact on improvement of organisations operations. According to Baidoo-Anu and Ansah (2023), the success is informed buy the streamlined operations enhanced in a creative and customised fashion in their area of operation. In REDTAG for example, the different departments structured in line with products and services offered are aligned with leverage on competitive advantage and dominance of fashion industry. The drawbacks however include execution of activities which are not relevant for the organisation. This could negatively impact organisation brand image and also their success in business sector.
Further, Narrow AI make sure that the organisation workplace initiatives are well implemented. This is precisely made which is not possible for manual-based operations. In line with Babu and Banana (2024), operating in Fashion Industry, they would be mandated to execute specific workplace functions efficiently and accurately as opposed to humans. This is the case particularly in execution of functions which are repetitive and time intensive or endangering humans.
In regard to challenges, narrowed AI could lead to constrained implementation of the role. This would lack the effectiveness as not all details are considered owing to its simplified nature.
