1.1: Evaluation of Organisational Structures under Different Ownerships

An organisation structure can be defined as a set of strategies under an active management and guided for achieving an entity objectives/goal. The structure evidence how various functions and responsibilities are pursued in an entity actively. In the context of Calmere House case organisation, flat non-hierarchical structure under kirsten’s ownership and hierarchical bureaucratic structure embraced in this report.

Flat Organisation Structure

The flat non-hierarchical structure in Calmere House under the ownership of Kirsten was most suitable. For the advantages, this model contributed to free flow of information, cooperation and high involvement of employees and it matched the style of leadership attributed to consultative leadership exhibited by Kirsten. The decision-maker was accessible to the staff, which started to empower them and led to an ownership and accountability spirit (Tabassi et al., 2024). In addition, the culture of trust and inclusion was facilitated by the flat structure with the employee voice being of paramount importance in decision-making. This helped in the maintenance of high employee retention, commitment and the quality of a unified vision on quality and personalised care.

However, for the disadvantages, the flat structures may prove to be strenuous with increase in the organisations, hence, creating confusion as to other roles, or inefficiencies in operation (Robbins & Judge, 2024).

Hierarchical Organisation Structure Conversely, hierarchical bureaucratic system introduced by Chaffinch Group comes with well defined chains of command and roles, which hold virtues in large and complex organisations (AIHR, 2024).
