1. Coaching and Mentoring

Coaching and mentoring is one such effective approach to leadership and management development which must be further developed at Saudi Telecom Company (stc). CIPD (2024) mentions that this method is structured one to one guidance which includes experienced leader helping to grow junior staff or future leaders. CIPD research reveals that coaching helps to increase self-awareness and communication in coaching, while the latter helps to pass on organisational knowledge and culture in mentoring.

In the environment of the industry going through a rapid digital and strategic transformation, stc can use the methods of coaching and mentoring to support employees going through change individually.

The advantages of having Leadership Development include better engagement, better leadership pipeline and improved experience based practical learning (CCL, 2025). But it has disadvantages as well such as inconsistent application, need of senior staff time commitment, and requirement of quality training of the mentors and coach for quality outcomes.

2. E-Learning

  E-learning is another valuable approach that should be expanded. This means bringing leadership and management development content to the digital screen where employees can learn on their own time and in their own way. According to CIPD (2021) digital learning should be integrated for supporting modern, agile developments and because remote and diverse workforces are common.

Given that STC is in the business of digitization and innovation, e-learning can be very effective at STC. It provides a means to uniformly provide training to various departments and locations as well as a way to encourage continual learning at a low cost.

Some advantages are flexibility, scalability, and the ability to track learner progress. However, disadvantages to the use of these methods include diminished interaction, lessened peer collaboration and reliance on the learner’s self-discipline. If there is no engagement strategy, the learners might not complete or process the content properly.
