1.0 Project Approach
2.1 Project Purpose and Summary
This project is a 12-month program in an organisation in Saudi Arabia that intend to change their information technology and communication systems that have been in place since the early 1990s. The objectives would include the need to use data and information to implement a high-performance in the organisation. This project would also minimise the dissatisfaction in the organisation and communication failures leading to challenges in organisation functioning.
2.1 Aspects of Organisational Change, OD program expectations, and Link between Change management approaches and OD activity
As noted in Church et al. (2002), orgaisation development ought to be a data-driven process of change. As a result, successful implementation of organisation development is mainly dependent on how information technology is used. In this case, since the organisation already operates through outdated systems, improving them would positively impact the organisation performance. Also, the systems that are used to link the management, the employees and other departments in the organisation are equally outdated hence a high likelihood of the system failure in the attainment of its intended objectives.
The link between change management approaches and OD activity is evidence at the point where there is a need to adapt, improve and evolve an organisation to ensure it is growing and developing in advance (CIPD, 2020). Hence, in the identified project, successful implementation of OD activity would imply the organisation adopts all the technologies to improve on their efficiency. The organisation functioning would also be significantly enhanced to the benefit of the organisation.
2.0 Project Approach
2.2 Summary of Selected Approach to Change management, Appropriate Tools and Application
In this project, the approach of change management would include developing an upgraded network of organisation communication, which is integrated through the use of wired, wireless, and mobile data and telephony. The outcome of this system would be increased access to information networks, faster interaction, and eventually improving the employees’ ability to take part in e-learning opportunities. All the employees in the organisation would have access to the network, their information is saved, and their performance monitored. It is from this data that the organisation could use to make decisions on employee appraisal, new reward, and remuneration systems being introduced and increased interaction. The tools that would be adopted include the Lewin change management model, which would consist of the unfreezing, change, and refreezing phases (Church & Burke, 2017). Additionally, the McKinsey-7-S model would be used, which focuses on the issues of strategy, structure, systems, shared values, style, staff, and skills that would be used (Alam, 2017). Through the use of the two models, they would inform on the best practice that can be adopted to improve the use of modern technology and uninterrupted services. Also, the ability to work from home since the network would be available at ease for the employees would be evaluated.
3.0 Stakeholders
1.2 Stakeholders and individual roles concerning the project and each other
In this particular project, the stakeholders include;
- Project Team-This would be involved to enhance the project implementation process through the provision of updates to the management, meeting to make arrangements, meet specific deliverables, and assist in risk mitigation.
- Communication manager– Ensuring provision of timely guidance to the team on the specific deliverables to be achieved and ensuring technology availability to the organisation operations specifically in the communication process.
- Organisation management– Being in a position of appreciating the scope, statuses, and importance of the project being implemented. Also, they would assist in sourcing, recruiting, and induction of the employees based on the changes being advanced.
- Line managers– as a link between the employees and senior management, the line management would guide in aligning the agreements, following up the existing updates of a project and to monitor changes in the project timelines and availability of resources.
- Organisation staff– The staff need to be conversant with the prevailing policies or procedures in tandem with the provision of services, noting on the scope, statuses of the project implementation and its relevance
