Write a report in relation to your own organisation (or one with which you are familiar):

  1. Describe the organisation’s position in its’ industry sector, its’ products and services, and its’ customer/consumer base (AC 1.1, 1.2, 1.3):
  • Explain the purpose and goals of the organisation and how well these are expressed to both customers and employees
  • Analyse the external factors that can impact upon the successful achievement of those goals (you should use a recognised diagnostic tool or framework such as Political, Economic, Sociological, Technological, Legal, Environmental and Ethical analysis (PESTLEE) to help you here – which should be attached as an appendix). Within the main body of the report, you should focus on four key factors and analyse them fully.
  •  Using recognised and well referenced theoretical models (AC 2.1, 2.2, 2.3):
  • Describe the predominant structure for the organisation:
  • Explain the functions (or departments) within that structure (e.g. HR, Finance, Sales, etc.) and how at least four functions work together (or not) to optimise organisational performance;
  • Describe the culture in your organisation or your part of it, referencing your culture to one or more of the theories covered in the workshop. 
  • Explain how this culture affects (positively and negatively) the way the organisation operates.
  • HR supports the organisation at all levels, it is important to recognise what activities take place within these levels, therefore; (AC 3.1, 3.2):
  • Describe three ways in which HR supports (or should support) the organisation in achieving its goals and strategy.
    • Describe three ways in which HR directly supports (or should support) line managers and their teams in their jobs.

Key Learning Summary and Development Plan (AC 3.5 DEP)

This will be your first key learning summary, as you progress through the qualification, you should identify potential improvements and further development needs and action to meet them.

You will be required to reflect on any learning from your assessment and wider study of the unit, your work on your assignment (including attendance at the workshop), and the progress of your development plan objectives. You should then allocate appropriate time to complete the Key Learning Summary reflection.

You should also identify any learning points for the future and add to your Development Plan accordingly and also give small updates on any on-going objectives in the right-hand column, (using a different font colour or other visual indicator that links with your KLS colour).

You should submit your Key Learning Summary and Development Plan as a separate document on Moodle with your submitted assessment by the assessment deadline date.

Activity 3.5 will not be signed off as completed until the end of your programme of study, however your assessor and trainer will give you feedback throughout for you to make changes if necessary.

The role of employees in the company is ensuring that the company operate in the entire hydrocarbon value chain through the exploitation of a network of fully-integrated businesses. This is with interest ranging from exploration, production, storage, refining and distribution process for the development of a wide-range of petrochemical products. To ensure the employees are linked to the interests of their customers, the company leverage on the ICV strategy which is aimed at strengthening their partnerships with both the local private sector and driving more local business opportunities. As noted by Sbia et al. (2014), this is done in line with the UAE government 2030 growth strategy aimed at creating a more profitable upstream and ensuring an economic a sustainable supply of oil and gas products.

External Factors Impacting Successful Achievement of the Identified Goals The external factors as presented in the PESTEL tool is as shown in Appendix 1. The company operations are based in UAE market. In this case, the UAE external environment is supposed to be taken into consideration in understanding the external factors that impact the different business activities. In this case, the PESTLE tool can be used in the analysis of the external factors influencing the ADNOC operations in UAE (Rastogi et al., 2016). One of the most significant factors affecting the company operations is the political nature of UAE.
