You are asked to develop a short research paper (approximately 1000 words) on the main theories and principles of organisation development. This should:

 Explore and discuss the origins of OD, leading towards contemporary definitions, and covering ideas of learning theory; psychology and behavioural science; social and organisational learning; and organisational systems theory. Make reference to theory, models and research as relevant, and should be correctly referenced
 Summarise key points as they are likely to relate to the project in question, discussing at least two of the theories, models or ideas previously explored

History of Organisational Development (OD) demonstrates a much older tradition of organizational science better than any other conventional wisdom suggesting. As at the 1960s and 1970s ended up becoming self-confident and dynamic (Bolden, 2016). As at the end of the 20th century, there are new images of OD already occurred and much of the earlier thinking being transformed reliably. Taking this into account, Ladyshewsky (2010) defined an organizational development as a technique adopted for bringing sufficient change in the organization instead of focusing their attention on individuals. Further, Kock and Ellström (2011) defined the process as a systematic application of behavioral science knowledge at different levels. These include groups, inter-groups, organizations for a strategic change process, The outcomes of the strategy is harnessing increased quality of work-life, productivity, adaptability and effectiveness. In light of the organization learning theory, this is done for the sake of attracting and retaining talent as an opportunity for learning and growing in their careers. As a consequence, a learning and development program is identified as a critical talent management tool, assisting leaders, managers, and recruiters and building their talents.
Additionally, the behavioral science is of significant and relevant to business management and organisation development. According to Gross (2015), the psychology and behavioral science are aimed at appreciating and appraising five factors for motivating managers and employees and attaining all the desired results. This is in line with behavioral management theory is in most instances identified as human relations movement. As such, the psychology and behavioural science are of significant relevance to the business management.
