Activity 1

The organisation adopts a hierarchy structure comprised of a chain of command, jobs and work specialization (see figure 1). In the job analysis, the position targeted for the replacement is the admin assistant. The head of department in this case is the HR manager.

  • Importance of Job Analysis

As a HOD, job analysis assists in establishing the expected employee competencies for entry into the vacant position (admin assistant) and the job role competency. After a successful enrollment, job analysis would be used as a metric to evaluate their performance and fitness to the assigned job roles (Sanchez & Levine, 2012). The different sections in which job analysis would positively influence is as summarized in figure 1;

Recruitment and Selection: individual fitness on demands of a specific job, education qualifications, and levels of experience.

Performance Analysis: Identifying achievement of goals and objectives of a particular job based on performance standards, evaluation criteria and output.

Training and Development: All the training and development needs are identified and matched.

Remuneration Management: Determining the appropriate pay packages, any extra perks and all benefits to employees.

Job Designing and Redesigning: Involve streamlining of employee’s efforts and sourcing the most ideal output identifying job scope of a job role.
