1.0 Introduction

In the modern business environment, leadership is identified as the capability of influencing others by demonstrating positive individual attributes and behaviours. To achieve this, CIPD (2020) note that leaders adopt varying leadership styles and qualities which are required for varying circumstances. According to Al Khajeh (2018), leaders are characterised by a direct cause-effect relationship with performance. This is since they determine the values, culture, change tolerance, and employees’ motivation. Since leadership and management are almost used interchangeably (CIPD, 2020a), leaders have a role to impact others in achieving their organisation team and corporate objectives. Hence, adopting the appropriate leadership theory and style is viewed as an avenue for an organisation’s improved performance. As defined in Nawaz and Khan (2016), the leadership theories and styles represent leaders’ methods in practicing their leadership roles. Leadership development is a continuous process where leaders are supposed to reflect and enrol in different programs intended to improve their capability. This is affirmed by Murray (2014), which points out that leadership styles are consistently developing with leaders required to be flexible in their operation styles and skills development. Based on this, it is important to understand the leadership theory and leadership models relative to a specific organisation. In this report, an evaluation of leadership theory and construction of a leadership model, analysis of leadership practice, and personal reflection of leadership and development has been provided.

The organisation leadership model is characterised by its excelling in the competitive Middle East Business environment, particularly in Oman. As a team leader in this organisation, different skills have been acquired critical for individual success today and in future professional roles. The leadership in the organisation is lead by a Board of Directors, including five permanent members tasked with reviewing the authority strategy and achievements. Also, it has executive management and team leaders in the 12 departments of the organisation. In this report, DIAM leadership is evaluated in line with the leadership models evaluated and evaluating its differing from its competitors.
