In the CIPD HR professional map, a people professional lead an organisation vision and direction ensuring successful benefitting and management of employees in an entity (CIPD, 2021).
People Professional in regard to Professional Behaviours
Ethical practice- This is a major professional behaviour evidencing that individuals must at all times play their roles in integrity, transparency and fairness. According to CIPD (2024), the outcome of this is consistency in decision making with values held by organisations created with trust-based relations initiated amongst the staff and different stakeholders. This builds on a credible workforce and appropriate organisation image.
Valuing people– This includes recognition of input of different people in an organisation initiating appropriate conditions for employees thriving. According to CIPD (2021), this is by enhancing inclusivity and equity valuing all individuals input as they lead to entire organisation objectives achievement.
People professional in regard to professional activities
In CIPD HR Professional Map, people professionals are people executing specific activities aligned with workforce needs and organisation strategies (CIPD, 2024). The professional activities include;
Policies and practice development– This entail ability of people professionals to design relevant policy and initiatives supporting high-level diversity and inclusion. According to CIPD (2019), this assists foster equality amongst employees in an organisation with opportunities for continuous growth enhanced increasing staff job satisfaction.
Organisation capability development– The different strengths and weaknesses assessment and planning are pursued for leveraging on strengths and managing weak areas. According to CIPD (2024), the outcome of this is guaranteeing employees adequate preparation for meeting current and future expectations.
