Q10. Discuss how the people manager, recruitment advisor and employment relations case
advisor could support the retention stage of the employee lifecycle (3.1)
The employee lifecycle is the main phases in which an employee undergoes in the organisation, beginning with attraction and recruitment up to exit. The retention stage is aimed at maintaining the employee active, charming, and eager to remain in the organisation in the long-term (Verlinden, 2024). Good retention not only helps to decrease turnover rates, increase morale, and build organisational stability but is essential in organisations with a high level of care organisational cultures such as Calmere House.
The People Manager
The People Manager takes the centre stage in retention by establishing an encouraging workplace. These actions involve fostering positive organisational culture, treating workers fairly and ensuring that all employee concerns are addressed beforehand (CIPD, 2024). The people manager ensures that engagement and loyalty is built by using the staff wellbeing programmes, showing recognition and helping staff to develop professionally (Armstrong & Taylor, 2023). They too assist line managers in employing equal and human friendly management approaches.
The Recruitment Advisor
Recruitment Advisor plays a role in retention through the good job-person fit in the hiring process (CIPD, 2024). Although they pay more attention to the beginning of the lifecycle, a careful choice of candidates could also highly affect retention since they fit the values and the culture of the organisation. The recruitment advisors are also able to obtain feedback as to why the employees remain or leave their organizations and they can change the recruitment strategies as per the feedback. They could also facilitate internal mobility, that is, encourage growth within the organisation.
