CIPD Level 3 Evaluating Learning and Development Activities 3ELD Assessment

Question:

Unit Assessment: CIPD Level 3 Evaluating Learning and Development Activities (3ELD)

Your task

It is important to evaluate any training that is undertaken, so for this task you will need to evaluate actual/real data that has been collected from training sessions that have been run within your organisation. You should review the methods used to collect this data and then analyse it and draw conclusions.

Activity 1

Agree an opportunity to evaluate an L&D activity/session with someone in your organisation or if you are not currently working, with a colleague who is delivering an L&D activity/session.

  • In conjunction with any other key stakeholders of the session, determine the criteria you will use as the basis of the evaluation and the related information you will need to collect. (AC 2.1 & 2.2)
  • Use appropriate methods and evaluation tools to collect the required information. (AC 2.3)
  • Analyse the information collected and draw evaluation conclusions. (AC 3.1)

You must include evidence from collecting and analysing evaluation information e.g. notes/raw data in your Appendix.

Activity 2 (1,000 words)

Produce an Evaluation Report in which you explain:

  • at least two key reasons for evaluating L&D activities (AC 1.1)
  • different levels of, and approaches to, evaluating L&D activities (AC 1.2)
  • the criteria, information and collection methods you used in this evaluation (AC 2.1, 2.2, 2.3)
  • your evaluation findings (presented in a range of formats e.g. text, tables, charts and diagrams) and your related recommendations (AC 3.2)

Key Learning Summary and Development Plan (AC 3.1 BEP)

As you progress through the qualification, you should identify potential improvements and further development needs and action to meet them.

You should submit your Key Learning Summary and Development Plan as a separate document on Moodle with your submitted assessment by the assessment deadline date.

Activity 3.1 (BEP) will not be signed off as completed until the end of your programme of study, however your assessor and trainer will give you feedback throughout for you to make changes if necessary.

  1. Key Reasons for Evaluating L&D Activities

The process of evaluating the L&D activities represents a systematic process used to collect information for and about training activity which could be adopted to guide the process of decision making and to assess the relevance and effectiveness of various training components (Mansor et al., 2012). There are multiple reasons that inform the need for evaluating the L&D activities which are at the macro and micro levels.

To assess learning and development programmes business impact as a whole

Through the process of evaluation of the L&D activities, it becomes possible to identify the impact to the business as a whole. The most popular areas in which a positive impact is leveraged is identifying the level of customer satisfaction achieved, solving the issues of staff complaints and level of quality rating achieved. All these issues are possibly achieved by engaging the employees in an active process of L&D with prompt feedback being gathered in the process.

To assist in planning and scheduling of the learning and development program

From the evaluation process, it is possible to identify the best practice that can be adopted in scheduling and planning of the practice with different considerations being made. For instance, the process could be arranged at a time that is convenient to the learners and when the interruptions could be minimized. From the evaluation, it is possible to identify how the process should be packaged in the self-contained modules to ensure that they are spread out over time and frequency of their arrangements.

  1. Different Levels of, and Approaches to Evaluating L&D activities

To understand the levels and approaches of evaluating the L&D activities, the Kirkpatrick’s Four-Level Training Evaluation Model (Praslova, 2010) can be adopted. This model is based on………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..Please Contact us to receive support, guidance and tutorial services on this assessment in full and in particular Activity 1 which is not provided in this site and the other Activities
